How do you plug the soundbar into my Emerson an what color do you plug into? I could set it up Bluetooth, but my husband doesn’t trust Apple. I’m not sure if his dinosaur

Best way is via Optical or headphone or Audio Out, depending what's available on both boxes.

The audio output on most TVs has to be turned on in the TV audio menu. You may also have to turn the TV speakers off and change the audio output type in that same menu.
For your husbands' information bluetooth is not an Apple standard. They have their own called Airplay that competes with the more universal bluetooth.
