The specs I find says, just regular keyboard. https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-g780-2182-17-3-core-i5-3210m-8-gb-ram-750-gb-hdd/specs/

The only mention of it in that link you sent is from the sales department. And I have to say, they don't always know what is what in sales.

Did you try going here... http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Lenovo-G-Series-laptops/Lenovo-G780-Notebook/2182/2182?linkTrack=Homepage%253ABody_Search%2BProducts&beta=false

Then click on the "Parts & Accessories" link. Then in that section enter your "Serial Number". Not model number but the actual Serial Number. It should tell you exactly what parts there are for that device.

Personally, I never ask support anything until I have exhausted all other ways to look things up. Most people you reach there will not be actual techs.

Well some laptops come with the option of adding that feature when you get it originally. If it isn't in it when purchased, then the motherboard included more than likely is the non-backlit one.

Now if that model had the option for some to have it and some not, depending on original order, it would say that when looking up the specs for the model. However, everything I find on the G780 says it has never had a backlit keyboard. No different versions, etc.
