Less bass in my left ear on my headphones

So I bought this new headset about two weeks ago (The sennheiser PC 333D 7.1 surround sound one) and about two days ago the bass in the left earcup is not as much there as it is on the right one, it also makes a slight scratching sound when there's a song/movie that has a part where there's alot of bass

Is this my laptop's problem or is this headset already broken?

Easy way to test is to plug the headphones into a different device and test. You'll know exactly where the source of the issue is then coming from.

Can't find a description of the speakers used in your headphones but it sounds like one in the left channel is blown. The noise you hear is the deformed voice coil trying to move and that makes a scrapping noise. See if they will cover it under warranty since they are new.
