So since CES I've been following info on the MSI Ghost. I am looking in to grabbing one of the MSI Ghost models, but before I dedicate myself to getting one before the next semester. I wanted to see if there are any alternatives to the Ghost that might be better on my wallet. Overall I am looking for a lighter laptop that I can lug around campus, but able to play games and edit audio and video with. Other features I've been looking for too are backlit keys, matte screen, and battery life that lasts about 3-6 hours when not gaming. If anyone one can help it would be appreciated.

Honestly its the msi ghost, macbook pro retina, or razer blade pro. With the msi being several hundred dollars less. Cooling and heat will be issues while running games and stuff so make sure you get a laptop pad or cooling pad of a sort. But otherwise the ghost really is the best way to go. Razer is great and slim and cool looking but your paying $500+ more for that over the ghost.
