Looking for a good Home Audio System for $300

I have been searching for a new home audio system for my computer for watching movies in DTS 5.1 surround sound.
I am obsessed with movies with good sound like Mad Max, Inception etc for a very long time and I am not able to enjoy the quality of these movies with my low end speaker.

I have a 'Gigabyte GA-Z97X Gaming 5' motherboard. I found that most of the threads here suggest 'Logitech z906'. I would like to know if my MB will be compatible with 'Logitech z906'.

Please suggest me other models below 300$.

I would suggest a good pair of headphones and maybe a headphone amp ... That audio quality will be MUCH better than any $300 audio system.

honestly you're not going to do much better than a z906 if your budget is only that much and you need 5.1

i would suggest the monoprice 10565 or better yet the energy classic 5.1 take its based on and a receiver. good entry level home theater setup with tons of connectivity options by using a receiver. overall its going to be one step up from pc speakers like the logitechs if you can deal with the extra cost. on a tight budget the 10565 + cheap receiver is a good buy.
