Okay I understand for the budget I have I can build a nice gaming desktop, I already have one so I'm not looking into building one. I also understand that I could get a beast of a gaming laptop, I don't want something that is heavy and thick, I'm looking for nice portability.

My budget is $1300. I am looking for something that can game well/decently, and something that I can edit videos with. I want something that is small preferably something smaller than 15 inches, thinner than an inch or about and inch unless I'm convinced otherwise. Last buy not least something that weighs less than 5 pounds, 6 is cutting it.

If you're going to suggest another device please use this layout:

I have 2 contenders

1. The Razer Edge

Intel Core i7 Dual core w/ Hyper Threading (Base 1.9GHz / Turbo 3.0GHz)
Windows 8
10.1” (IPS, 1366x768) Multi-touch HD display
8GB DDR3 (2x4GB 1600MHz)
128GB SSD (SATA-III)
Intel HD4000 (DX11) & NVIDIA GT 640M LE (2GB DDR3, Optimus Technology)

7" x 10.9" x 0.8" 2.1 pounds

$1299.99

You all are about to hate me cause you're probably thinking "This is the stupidest device ever, Razer only sells expensive toys." The whole reason I want this device is PORTABILITY, this is so light and can still play all games at decent settings. Yes not the best, but this thing is the lightest device and it does what I want. Handles games well, can be used for editing. No I don't plan on getting any of the peripherals just yet. I have a usb hub that I can connect so I can plug in a mouse/keyboard and I can easily prop it up against something or set it on my lap. I just really love this device because I could sit back on a couch, lay in a bed, sit on the toilet, litteraly be anywhere and everywhere and still play games, whether it be Skyrim, DayZ, Battlefield, Mass Effect, I could go on and on and on. I could even play Minecraft with just the tablet itself. This is truly the most portable pc gaming device I have seen.

2. Alienware M14x

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit
14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
8GB2 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz
500GB 7,200 RPM SATA + 32GB mSATA Caching SSD
2 GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M with Optimus™

13.27" 10.17" 1.49" 6.45 lbs

$1274.00

Now you're like "Are you serious!? First Razer now Alienware!?" I know a lot of you will say Alienware = Dell = Crap the thing is I have an M15x which runs really well and has for 2+ years now, I just don't want to lug it around and plan on giving it to someone else. Okay so this is a beast of a laptop in my opinion. It is the highest thing I will accept because it breaks a few rules already. It breaks my weight rule, and also thickness rule. The exception is that the processor is Quad Core (from what I hear) and will be great for editing on the go. It can also handle games really well with the 2GB GT 650M that dwells within it. I know a lot of you will say Alienware = Dell = Crap the thing is I have an M15x which runs really well and has for 2+ years now, I just don't want to lug it around and plan on giving it to someone else.

Looking at it now I notice Alienware beats the edge by a landslide because the components just demolish it. If you can find something equal to the Alienware with better portability definitely let me know. I'm leaning more towards the Alienware because it definitely is a better long term investment but, I feel like the Edge is still master in portability which is what I really want.

you should give me that old Alienware you got there. But anyways I prefer the m14x. The razer laptop is really....well cheap, in some ways. By experience it's been through it's many depressing fazes. First the cheap paint on the keyboard started to come of. Soon enough it was to the point where I has to use white out to see them again. Then the bottom started come of. LITERALLY. I opened it up and came to the conclusion that the immense heat coming of of the device just melted the plastic holdings. MELTED! Alienware is a really good and made really durably. And hey, it even cheaper! Should still give me that Alienware you got there!
