I am trying to get a laptop around $500. My range would probably be $500 to $600. I found this laptop that looked pretty good, as it has a nice graphics card, but I was slightly concerned as it only has one review on Newegg, and by googling it, I couldn't find out much about it. Do you guys think this looks like a good deal?

If not, what are some other options? I've been looking around on New Egg and Slick Deals. I like to game, and frequently play League of Legends and some Steam games (Civ 5, Chivalry).

I was planning on getting a laptop because it would be more convenient and I could even take it to school, but if there are some desktops in the same price range that are significantly better for gaming, I'd be willing to consider them.

go with the desktop. i bought the Acer Aspire A5560-7414 at the beginning of the year for 400 bucks and while it is great for browsing the web and even some cad modeling as soon as I started gaming (empire total war) the apu would overheat and the laptop would shut down. now, u are looking at a better model but i would still prefer a desktop. I'm currently running a phenom II 955 bc with some old ddr2 ram and a 9800gt... still better than my newer laptop for gaming.

I would recommend building your own desktop, but if you need the portability of a laptop for School then you probably want a laptop because school always comes first.

You can find lenovo y400 and y500 used online sometimes for about 650 with gt 650m and 3630qm ivy bridge quad core which makes it a fairly potent entry gaming laptop especially with sli possibility.

Someone correct me if I posted wrong name for proc.
