Looking For Low Budget Laptop/Notebook For School

Hi, I'm looking for a laptop or a notebook that is light weight and main use for school, not looking to play games on it also. Please give links or good brands. Ive posted laptop buying questions below. Thanks

1. What is your budget?
-Around 500-700 (I know its not a lot to work with)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
- About 12-15 inches

3. What screen resolution do you want?
-Any is fine

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
-Portable

5. How much battery life do you need?
-6 hours minimum

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
-No games really

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
-School and internet browsing

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
-Any amount is fine

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
-Please give me some good brands with links to which series or computer I should buy, I have been looking at Lenovo and Asus.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
- 3-4 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
-Lenovo and Asus seem to be good brands

13. What country do you live in?
USA

To be honest, it sounds like any laptop would do, really. You have a budget and you have two brands that you like (I think Lenovo and Asus won't let you down). I think the only thing you need to do is go to a store and have a look around. You can also ask the staff for help.

You are looking for a machine that'll do nothing out of the ordinary. Any laptop we can show you is just as good as one you'll find on your own. ;-) One piece of advice, though: Since you are not going to play games you don't need to pay extra for a dedicated graphics card unless you find a laptop with a processor without an integrated graphics solution.

Bought 2 Lenovo Yoga 2 computers for my sons High School. If I had bought one I would have called it a lemon. Both touch pads delaminated. Both shed their rubber protective strips. My more responsible sons computer developed stress cracks on the touch screen. They quickly looked worse than my 7yo Toshiba. Both sons complained about storage limits.
Then(our fault) we spilt hot chocolate on one. 600 dollar repair bill. I would have paid that to repair my toshiba. Told Lenovo to put in in the bin. Am buying my son a mid range Toshiba for this year and believe I will soon be buying another one.
