Hello Laddies,
Looking for a light laptop around $800 (but can go to $1000 if the difference in quality is that big) that isn't a mac. I think they are referred to as 'ultrabooks'. I'll mostly be using it for school. Don't need to game. PS: My school says Mac iOS is not compatible with their testing service.
Anyways, maybe someone can talk me out of getting an ultrabook and getting a chrome book (if it works with their testing service) :??:

I've had my eye on the Asus Zenbook ux305ua for a bit. For $699 it was very appealing, especially considering it has good/modern specs. However, I read that it has a terrible trackpad and the SSD is very slow/bad. Any thoughts?

Similarly, the ux303 caught my eye. However, upon researching, the touch screen on it isn't very good and also suffers from the above problems. Also, I work at walmart, so I can get it at a discounted price for $700. EDIT: Btw, just realized the link says 4GB/128GB but the description says 8gb/256gb... WTF?

Also it seems like there are 20 different versions of the ux303 and 305's :??:

Conversely, the xps 13 is nice but more expensive - the same components as the asus would make the xps 13 around $1000.

Thoughts, comments, recommendations?

Thanks a ton

On the Lenovo website, you'll have to choose the one with full HD. There are many options available. I can't access the similar models on my part but if you look at the "Tech & Specs", you'll see many different options for a particular section. There are core i3s and core i5s & hd and full hds. Choose carefully at the similar models. Also, I don't recommend 2 in 1 laptops unless you absolutely need because it will drain your battery life.

Both of them are nice option. It's true their trackpad are pretty terrible but for casual users, it won't make much difference. You can always get a wireless mouse. As for the SSDs, despite being slow, there's still much faster than a typical HDD.
Here's some recommendations if you want:

Lenovo ThinkPad X260($764): http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/x-series/x260?clickid=QiuTeyWVwT-tw6pTJ8U9wzIsUkkxofSz1XW4UA0&PID=13013&acid=ww:affiliate:bv0as6&irgwc=1

Key features: Core i5 6300U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, recorded an astonishing 17 hours of battery life on laptopmag's battery test, 12.5", not full hd

Lenovo ThinkPad 13($509): http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/13-series/13-windows/?sb=:00000025:00003D6D:&cid=us:affiliate:a7vm6w&clickid=QiuTeyWVwT-tw6pTJ8U9wzIsUkkxo80y1XW4UA0&PID=13013&acid=ww:affiliate:bv0as6&irgwc=1

Key features: Core i3 6100U, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Windows 10, battery ~9 hours of continuous web surfing, 13.3", full hd

I don't know if I'm reading it wrong but under 'view current models', it says the x260 has an i3-6100u, 1366x768 (not Full HD), 4GB ram, and 500 HDD.

Also for the ThinkPad 13 it says it's not full HD as well.
