I don't know how you would plug a USB cable into a wall outlet. I wouldn't recommend trying. If your device is meant to be charged by way of a USB cable then that should work although I doubt a camera is such a device. Normal USB outlets will only pass 1/2 AMP of current and I doubt that's enough to charge a camera battery. I suggest contacting SONY.

I think your model can only charge the battery using a battery charger. Not quite sure if it'll allow the battery to charge while connected to the body like that, let alone through the USB port. I would contact Sony just to make sure.

Many Sony camcorders will allow you to charge the battery when connected to the camera provided you use the power brick and cord. I don't believe you can charge that Sony camcorder via the USB port.
