How. To make my dvd portable so i can take it outside just to hear music. I hook a speaker to my sony dvd and could barely. Hear the music

Which Sony DVD player is it?

Use headphones or an active speaker system/ eventually bluetooth speaker with 3.5" audio port, if your DVD player has an aux/stereo out

You can barely hear it because your not using an amplifier.

You need a pair of active speakers which incorporate an amplifier, or a pair of regular speakers plugged in to a separate amplifier, but bear in mind that active speakers (or separate amplifier) will have to be plugged in to a mains power socket.
