McAfee Real Protect & Stinger

I downloaded a virus scanner called Stinger.exe. It also came with RealProtect.exe. Neither of these files can be located in control panel uninstall. This is supposed to be a McAfee file. I don't trust this entire program. I can see the file path for RealProtect from program files to the McAfee folder to the RealProtect folder to the .exe and data files and a quarantine folder. Can I just start deleting everything within the folders and move backwards deleting as I go till I get to the original folder and then delete that? Stinger does not even show up in the McAfee folder. The Stinger folder is empty and is sitting in a program (86) file. So, can I just delete this empty Stinger folder?

I would suggest using the MCPR (McAfee removal tool) to remove any traces.

Deleting the folder(s) may just 'work', but I wouldn't expect it to. There are registry edits etc that need to be removed too.

Not every executable has an installer in the classic Windows sense. Many applications are portable, and can be run right from wherever they reside....
