Mic not being detected

Hey all,
I recently upgraded my pc (got new mobo, cpu, ram) However I encountered a problem with my headset, where the mic isn't being picked up!
The audio is working fine.
When I go into playback options it shows this; http://gyazo.com/35630fb9c59ccd0f094df88637bc1f46 even though both are plugged in,
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!
Mobo: Z97 Gaming 5
Headset: Astro A40

I should mention, I know the headphones work on my laptop but that doesn't use the splitter that came with the headphones

I might be able to try it on a friends, Do you think im messing up plugging it in or something? I mean the panel is different to my last motherboard aswell, and they aren't actually coloured anything other than black and one red so am I missing something here the audio manager shows these aswell http://gyazo.com/13043182b525195bc323c3f04b3d3a86

So what can I do?

Sorry for the delay, Got around to trying it in a friends PC and it worked fine

Update; After just trying it again now coming back from the friends house it seems to work? I have no idea why but oh well

Maybe it needed a clean(?). Anyway - good luck; hope it keeps working.
