Mic not working on Predator Helios 300

My laptop only has one audio jack intended for headsets. Just got the Beexcellent GM-1 Gaming Headset and connected the USB and the 3.5mm cable but only the sound is working. Microphone is not being recognised on Recording Devices

There are several issues with that headset that the mic is not working, read the Q/A on amazon.
