Microphone input wont work

I have a microphone that is stereo, and uses the 3.5 mm stereo connector. But my computer for some reason only works with mono 3.5mm microphone connector, the one with only 2 contacts on the connector. Is there any way i can re wire the stereo 3.5mm to make it act as mono.

a stereo microphone is two micropones in one body

you can cur the positive to one line and solder a new connector, positive and negative for only one but this well, basically destroys the mic

perhaps this is simpler and doesn't kill the mic
