Microphone making strange static when recording

My microphone has been making quite a strange static sound when i record my microphone for a few years now and i can never figure out how to get rid of it, i've tried three different headsets and 2 different motherboard and still get the strange static.
Headset i have currently: Turtle Beach Earforce X12
CPU: AMD FX 8120
Watercooler H80
3 Fans
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 PRO

Basically, when the mic input level is too high, it will distort.
