Wonder how those owners of Elites who bought the unit 2-3 months ago at $400 feel about this?

My guess, Microsoft is feeling the pain of a $300 PS3 that has more features per buck... except no HALO.

pathetic and futile attempt at gaining sales... let's face it, sony is the best value at the moment. the wireless n card is going to be priced at $100, and xbl is $40 a year, and for the people that hate wires and need those features... guess who will get the sale? sony is safe, regardless of the rebate.

i hate rebate with all my heart and soul

usd 249 for a 3 year old pc is still way overpriced.

make it 59usd.. then charge the ubsard amounts they charge for the games here (75usd per game lol).

Not a bad price for an elite. Of course my money is going towards a Phenom II 955 and then a 5850 when I can afford it 😀, so I guess I'll have to put of getting a 360 of my own. Darn them for not releasing Fable II for the PC though 🙁

Even at this price I'd rather get a PS3. Who knows, it might take over xbox's crown as it's outselling it by 3:1 nowadays

There is a deal through Dell's website that currently can be configured to have this thing priced below $200 with shipping/tax. Amazing deal if you jump through the hoops to get it.

gellet - seeing that the 360 is the oldest of all the curent gen consoles, PS3 should be selling more by NOW.

The fact that Microsoft is still gaining sales still shows that MOST people disagree with PS3

Good move, but needs more:
-bigger hard drive (250GB or more)
-lower price ($199)
-with $199, include wireless adapter and a 2nd wireless controller
-bundle 2 decent games

Then it'd outsell all others for absolute sure!

sounds like an ok deal if the rebate doesn't require you to master the rubiks cube while blindfolded and heavily intoxicated on the strongest alcohol available... would have been better if it weren't such a short time period as well...

@megamanx00
Dragon Age from Bioware releasing next month should allow you to get all your RPG goodness you are seeking. On my list for sure.

Most of those sales are to replace dead units, Red ring of Death and such because they have spent so much on games they are now stuck with MS and the crapbox 360.

The RROD is gone for the most part, you rarely see/hear of it anymore. The part I have found to be a piece of junk is the optical drive. However, since the update to be bale to install a game on the hard drive, that has really helped with noise, heat, and puts life back into the optical drive. The Xbox is much more reliable now than the stereotype that just doesn't disappear - the RROD. For the record though, the Xbox 360 was the worst ever out the gate in my opinion in terms of hardware failure, weather it was rushed R&D + testing, cutting corners, or the sweatshops were boycotting being payed too much.

The problem was technical ... lead-free solder thanks to EU. The high heat of the processors just exacerbated the problem. Also, most of the suppliers in China were new to lead-free and had to be taught by MS engineers which was a slow process.
