No idea, but I got my Lumia 610 upgraded today (January 31st) which is good. Not so good is that the brown theme is not quite as nice as it was :-(
Will be checking out the ringtone maker ASAP

Why exactly were these phones disqualified from getting the full WP8?

WP8 is multicore. These phones are not.

Also, first time I've seen Zak Islam do an article on something other than Apple.

WP8 requires new hardware. There isn't a single WP7 phone that can be upgraded to WP8.

I did it! If it didn't work for you put the phone on airplane mode, I got the update after the second try. Also, it seems LG Optimus 7 phones have two previous updates before the final one, so you'll need to do it three times to acquire the 7.10 (8858) update.

Already got it on my Lumia 710!
Not really to much has changed, but it is nice to still get one last round of updates

Its not likely to be the last round of updates, since windows 7 phones are still being sold today and when the 7.8 update was announced they did hint at a series of updates.

My guess would be the addition of things like a notification screen they are likely to add to to WP8 could appear.
