Microsoft: Xbox 360 Not Having Blu-ray is Good

i chose 360 because the premium (with hard drive) cost much less than the cheapest PS3, at the time.
I have no need for wifi, who would want to game on wifi anyways?
you can get the 360 pro right now for less than the cheapest ps3, and it comes with a hard drive.
or you can get an elite for the same cost as the cheapest ps3.

I chose the 360 because I prefer to pay only $5 a month for a VASTLY superiour online service.

I chose the 360 because it runs most cross platform games better than the ps3.

i chose the 360 because it has more RAM, a better GPU, and although the CPU is slightly slower in theory, it is much easier to develop for.

if i wanted bluray on a gaming console, i would of bought a ps3 since, if you want bluray, the ps3 is a great bargain.
i don't want bluray.

if i wanted some of the ps3 exclusive titles, i'd buy a ps3... but I don't.

I have a PS3 and I am not going to go on about how it is so much better than the 360. But, I will say this.... The main reason I bought the PS3 in the first place is because my wife and I just bought a high def TV and needed a blue ray player. At the time, the blue rays were 399.00 and so was a PS3. So, we bought the PS3.

The combination of the LCD rush and high prices of High Def players pushed alot of people toward the PS3 and that my friend is one of the main reasons Blue Ray won the format war. Sony took a huge gamble and they won BIG.

If the 360 had come with a HDDVD drive things MIGHT have been quite different.

Wait a second...

Now that I think about it didn't Microsoft sell an HD DVD add on accessory for the xbox 360? Aaron Greenberg is saving face here for Microsoft. They didn't have any grand digital strategy; they were on the wrong side of the format war, and are now stuck with digital only means of content distribution. It's not like the PS3 doesn't also have their own distribution service (which is free) and Netflix support.

List 10 games? Sure, any game by microsoft is only xbox360. Not even PC gets the games anymore.

And the feature set comparison between two are facts, simple as that. Some called it bull. But its true. Blu-Ray, included wireless LAN, web browsing, HD upgrades, etc.

MS did the right thing by screwing up and rushing the 360 out to the market. If it came out a year later to go head to head with the PS3, they most likely would be in pretty bad shape.

Also, I don't think the 360 user base is that much bigger considering how many people rebuy 2~4 consoles.

Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Dead Space, Fallout 3, GTA4, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, Assassins Creed, Assassins Creed 2, etc.

All recent games....all considered top games on Xbox 360....all on the PC

I don't think anyone really knows (other than MS executives) what MS's plan was so I am not going to comment on that.

Apparently people do care about watching movies on their game consoles. Otherwise MS wouldn't have included the HD DVD drive, streaming video support, DVD playback, etc. And Blu Ray is for more than just movies...the higher storage density gives the PS3 some advantages in gaming too.

Four years ago your statements were very accurate. Nowadays the PS3 is no longer expensive as it costs $300 just like the Xbox 360 (with hard drive, $400 with wifi adapter). Developers are starting to take advantage of the PS3 hardware (see Valve's apology to Sony). As of the beginning of 2010, the Sony has sold 33.5 million PS3s, and Microsoft has sold 39 million Xbox 360s, which is pretty close especially if you consider the number of users after taking failure rate into account. Sony is making up ground fast, but we will have to see what happens.

True that, I have 2 360 (1 halo and 1 elite) and 2 PS3 (Fat40Gb and Slim 250) and you can clearly see that that Borderland has a little bit more details on the PS3 than on x360

Your comparing an Xbox 360 promotional deal to a standard PS3 purchase, which is obviously not a fair comparison. Occasionally there are PS3 promotional deals as well.

Having a blu-ray player is not that advantage it once was.Set top blu-ray players have went way down in price. Plus some like Oppo are much better players.

Also a lot of people are forgeting that you can use the Xbox as a media center extender. Which you can stream full HD, or even use your Xbox as a DVR with a HD TV tuner, or control a HD box with IR. There is full HD rentals too, it is not just Netflix HD either.

As for adding accessories, 20GB hdd is plenty and can be had for $20-$30 online, WIFI is useless for streaming or playing online (especially the 802.11g included with PS3), on top of that I would rather use a 802.11n adapter or bridge, and the AA batteries are a better choice than built in (can get rechargeables for $5, also replaceable if they go bad unlike PS3 controller)

WRONG! Microsoft was actually part of the conglomerate that created the HD-DVD standard. They were on the wrong side of the format war, plain and simple.

Maybe when it got out but now it doesn't.
It was an issue related to the port made by Sega which is now looking better with the updates released.
And by the way, you want to talk multiplatforms, compare BF Bad Company 2 on the 360 and on the PS3, PS3 version is way better and don't slow down like hell when picking a weapon

Hahahaha, that is the first time I've heard a good comment about home, especially as an awesome fun place. I imagine all the people using Home have kickass Farmville setups too.

Second, the Cell does not process graphics and it's widely known that the PS3 graphics are slighty less powerfull than the 360. Cell is great at other things, but rendering graphics is not one of them so you can stop telling lies anytime now.

PS3, some exclusives and BR. I enjoy GOW and love watching animated/action movies in high def, comedies... meh, I could care less.

360, some exclusives and Live. I don't care if it costs a little money as forming an 8 player party, chatting together and "EASILY" getting into the same game on the same team is a BIG deal for me.

Case in point, I bought BC2 for PC, I love it and it blows the consoles out of the water in terms of graphics, control and dedicated servers (thanks 5870). Trying to form a party (no go) and get on the same server/team takes effort. I can do it but I applaud MS for making this 100% easy on the 360.

Agreed, although I hear FF XIII looks better on PS3... I could really care less because I have not enjoyed one of those games since VII.

Another thing, why does a console need wireless? Sure it's a nice option and works with gaming but... I hated streaming content from my PC to either a PS3 or 360 over wireless G and find that cabled is the only way to go.
