Mid-Level Reverb Units For My Studio

hello. i'd like to get a new rack reverb for my project studio (now i
have an mpx-100...i'd like to step it up a bit). i'm looking at the
mpx-550, the tc m-one, and anything else in that $400-$600 range (new
or used). here is what is important to me:

-i'm only interested in reverbs, and perhaps some delays...but mostly
reverbs.
-it's important that the unit has xlr in and outs, and be very
transparent (except for the effect, of course). i've spent a lot of
money on high quality mics, preamps, and compressors, and i don't want
the last step in the chain (the reverb) to mess with that.

so can anyone recommend any reverb units in that price range that will
perfrom well in those two catagories?

Yamaha is your choice!! Try looking for the 990...

Used Sony R7, true stereo XLR I/O and (as I just mentioned on a thead
almost identical to this one of your's) I have often thought it preferable on
vocals to the High End Lexicon 480.

If you go back a couple of days and find the other thread asking about mid
priced reverbs one is available, and also a computer card with a pair of
Lexicon PCM 90's on it (you need to use a PCI computer with it, but as a budget
reverb that's pretty good, if a bit space consuming.

You also might be able to find a used M2000.

If it has to be Yamaha, REV-500 is cheaper and its reverbs are at least as
good as those in SPX-990.

I wouldn't choose it for my main reverb, though.

Hm, never been my first choice. We have a 990 at work, but not in the
music rack. I don't use it for anything other than disguising voices.

FWIW I prefer Lexicon reverbs, in case that puts any perspective on my
opinions.

Add my second to the TC M2000. I've found it to be very open and transparent.
Very clear and still maintains body (not tinnny). Dual engines and easy to
program also.

Hey Will, theres a guy (John) a few threads down (FS: 16 Track Digital
Recording Studio) thats selling two Lexicon's, don't know if there up to you
needs but he has them and some more gear for only $1500.

Check out my Demeter RV1 Reverb on ebay...buy it now for $475...do a
search on google to see the great reviews, or search on Yahoo for a
ton of magazine reviews...it sounds like exactly what you need,
especially for vocals, guitars, horns & keys.
