Missing Audio from my TV to my SoundBar through Optical Cable

This is my current setup:
Everything HDMI into my TV (PS4, Cable box, streaming box, etc.) then my TV is Optical Cabled to my Soundbar. However when whatever is playing goes silent (naturally no sound), when the sound kicks in the soundbar misses off the first section of the sound. Just to be clear, the sound doesn't lag between the TV and Soundbar but is not played at all. It's like the soundbar goes to sleep when no sound is played for more than c1 second so when sound plays it misses the first split second off completely, which is really annoying for watching anything with silences broken by conversation.

Solution
Your description is accurate.
It is taking longer than it should to relock onto the digital signal when it resumes. You can try changing the audio output type in the TV menu if there is a place to do it.
Hope it's under warranty.

Thanks americanaudiophile. Unfortunately my TV is just over 2 years old (out of warrenty). Do you think it will make a difference using RCA cables instead? It's the only other way to connect my TV to the Soundbar.

Thanks
