[citation][nom]jimmysmitty[/nom]I....uh.....W......I am so lost right now. Sorry man butt I hate to be a grammar Nazi but your English sucks to the point of not being able to understand.BTW, what does this have to do with MW2 being censored in Japan and Germany?[/citation]
I do recognize that my English "sucks" big time because is not my native language,i never studied in school or college, just studied by my self only by necessity.I have the necessity to access information on a wide scale so i manage to learn a few words in English.I live in Europe. My native language is far more complex an precise. That is the reason,i think, that i do so many mistakes. But i don't know anymore if i do something wrong or not, whit all this SMS English on the internet i am not able to see for good. Sure my English sucks. BTW jimmysmitty...u are sure that u are not able to understand what i was babble first or u are just confused by this new SMS English. If i was writing in a rasta'English u where able to understand? I think u see what was my point. It was just my opinion...and if u was not able to see the connection of my point of view, with this magical world of virtual killing (censored or not)...well!! what i can say...u just can't see the link, so who is to blame for it? I was discussing whit duncann_Idah0 about another discussion that i was having with another personage that just discussed some idea that was linked with this news-thread.Is just a discussion of a discussion. What was the idea that u wanted to discuss linked to this discussion? Or u just wanted to corecte my bad English grammar... By the way, thank you...i need some good advices, all the time.

[citation][nom]kamar6[/nom]I kill in Unreal Tournament. I kill in Rainbow Six. I kill in Doom. I kill in any game I can get my hands on. I don't kill in the real world except maybe mosquitos. However......I work with juveniles with psychiatric disorders.....some of them don't have a firm grasp of game vs reality. Some of them have actually acted out what they played on Grand Theft Auto. As a gamer....I love to shoot em up! As someone who works with youth with psych problems..... I can see games turned to real world problems. My opinion on the level......well it depends on who buys the game.[/citation]

There should be something in games like GTA and whatnot that make the person go under descreet and subtle psychological tests to see if they are fit to play such games. The result should be saved in the console and if the person fails the test, they can't play the game. Sure, it'll cause rage to some but those people would be the ones who shouldn't play it in the first place then... nothing like a good refund eh?

Reducing the target market? I can't see a company voluntarily doing that and I doubt the government would enforce such a thing in the US. Also, how would a subtle test determine if you should play a game or not? If you kill people, you shouldn't be allowed to play? Isn't that just an asinine way of keeping players from having fun?

First time I played the game up to this level.
Then I removed the game from my computer and I don't want to see it again.

[citation][nom]loomis86[/nom]There's nothing noble about being a pacifist. A pacifist is a slacker that relies on others to do what they refuse to do for themselves. Banning or censoring a video game is senseless and pointless and purely symbolic. incompetent, petty, impotent governments eagerly anticipate the opportunity for such nonsense because that is all they are capable of.[/citation]
Nevermind the Pacifists who do peaceful protests, standing face to face with a line of tanks, etc. Being a true pacifist actually takes quite a large set of balls.

There are different kinds of pacifism.

Oh yeah, I killed all those poligons with my poligon shooting gun! And I didn't get caught! I'm starting to think that there is a difference on what I do in a game and real life. Didn't noticed until that level in MW2... [/sarcasm]

Here in Argentina you get killed by as much as a pair of shoes or a 30 U$S cell phone. And that's no game. I don't understand what they want to achieve with this censorship. Killers do it IRL, not in a game.

Next time, a killer defends himself: It was on MW2 and I was a good guy, I thought it was ok!

So what. You know, doing your job and having to worry about collateral damage adds to the complexity of the situation, which can be very rewarding when pulled off. I remember playing Thief 2, where I had to break into a police station and frame a cop, without being allowed to kill *or knockout* anyone. Total stealth only. That was difficult and awesome.

i think it was really made on purpose - to make controversy about that level. Call of duty is a real best-seller, but... why not make it immortal?.
With no-russian level, now it´s immortal.. we will always talk about it... in fact there are people just buying it cos they want to see THAT MISSION.
They knew it would make that controversy, they made it on purpose.
About the mission itself, it´s shocking, it´s not so good... but i´m 24 i know what i´m doing and i know it´s just a game. If it´s in the game, i play it. if i want to shot, i shot. If i don´t want to, i don´t, its the same.

[citation][nom]sinsear[/nom]I don't get it; lolicon is perfectly okay but this is censored in Japan...[/citation]
Do not google lolicon. Just don't do it.

*vomits*

I did played it three times: once without firing, once I did fire and once I tried to take the bad guys. The outcome was the same until you fired on the bad guys then they called you traitor and killed you. I did it just to see if there would be diffarant outcomes. Just for the record the first time I went through that level I did not fire.

[citation][nom]bison88[/nom]I just caved in today and picked the game up used for the X-Box 360. I swore left and right I wasn't going to shoot just to be the one cool guy to say I honestly didn't. I didn't have any idea that "No Russian" was the third mission you play and because the first two missions pumped me up so great I was all exited and just came out of the elevator trying to bunny hop and was the first to pull the trigger at the security guard.Does this mean I need to see a counselor? I had good intentions before hand but that mission is put right when the excitement begins for Modern Warfare 2 and I almost peed myself in excitement to shoot the civilians.[/citation]

You should seek counseling...for bunny hopping. It is addicting and leads people to believe you are a bad of a feminine hygene product. This affliction can be rectified though. Through proper counseling and stringient diet off of the jump button, you to can realize that bunny hopping is not a defense mechanism.

I think it's ridiculous that a game like grand theft auto can actually assign you to commit genocide ("kill all the haitians" is actually a mission in one of them) but that a "realistic" game like MW2 is censored in this way. There are plenty of movies where innocent civilians are killed... I really don't see what the point in this is.

Personally, I saw nothing wrong with the level. I won't lie, I actually didn't shoot any civilians... it felt a little wrong especially since the scene was so real (emotions on their faces etc). But if you did shoot them all up... so what? It's a game. Worse things have been done before. And better you taking out your anger on a game than on real civilians.

On and like Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation said, who cares, they're Russian civilians! :) just kidding!

Not only did I shoot as many as I could, I made it a point to put some holes in the ones that were trying to crawl away. If you are going to do something, do it right. Shotguns would have made he level more fun.

OMG I was reading through developing an idea of what to say drinking my coffee before my final exam...and upon reading yours and how you said it....I laughed so fucking hard I busted a nut and spewed coffee all over my laptop...I'm with you on this idea though!

The entire level was completely pointless and only appears to exist to cause this kind of controversy.

I killed as many as I could as well. Why? Because Im old enough that being exposed to this sort of thing doesn't make me susceptible to becoming crazy or violent (like it would for kids under the age of 13 or 14). I have a moral center and know the difference between right and wrong and the consequences. Did I feel bad playing that mission? Yes, a bit. But only because my mind made the connection that it would be truly horrible and horrific if something like this were to happen in real life to real living people. But it didn't, it happened to a bunch of 1's and 0's. The only difference between the terrorists you kill in 1 mission, the civilians in another, and the US soldiers following a corrupt general in a third is pixels, and I know this. However as I have already said, younger kids are much more easily influenced and affected by video game violence and arguing that is just stupid because it has been proven true more times then anyone can count. Yes there are exceptions, there are 8 year old kids with more moral fiber than your average adult but there are also 50 year old men who have road rage when some one flicks them off in the road. The extremes go both ways but what it really boils down to is this:
Japan and Germany (mainly Germany) have seen the effect of something influential on their youth and how willing they were to follow. They are highly concerned for the effect that violence and other influences have on youth and whether you are 18, 38, or 82 years old, the fact of the matter is that KIDS play video games a lot as well and they don't want something so obscene and heinous being able to be played out by kids and not witness consequences for their actions.

Personally I think there should be some sort of age verification or something for that mission and if you aren't old enough then any civilian you shoot pulls out a mini gun and starts shooting back. Would be more effect I think lol.
