Greetings!

My girlfriend needs a movie maker/editor software (free or paid) with hundreds of effects and transitions which is user-friendly, easy to use, easy to play with, and not for advance user. Can you recommend one or two? She is using windows 7.

Thanks,
James

For reasonably priced editing software you could consider one of the following:

Corel Video Studio Pro X6 (Regular and Ultimate versions): http://www.corel.com/corel/product/index.jsp?pid=prod4900075&cid=catalog20038&segid=8100022

Adobe Premiere Elements 12: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements.html?kw=p&sdid=EQDGT&skwcid=AL!3085!3!31226892794!b!!g!!adobe%20premiere%20elements&ef_id=Up6kuQAABEBjBX07:20131204035150:s

Pinnacle Studio 17 (there are Plus and Ultimate versions as well): http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/studio/

Sony Movie Studio 12: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiopp?keycode=64588

Free ones to consider:
Lightworks: http://www.lwks.com/ (there is a free version and the pro version for $60 per year)
Wondershare: http://www.wondershare.net/ad/video-editor-win/?gclid=CPSvlLGDuroCFcid4Aod1l4AKw
ezvid: http://www.ezvid.com/

I'm sure this is by no means a comprehensive list but at least it's a starting point.

@kenrivers

Thanks for your recommendations but aren't those for advanced users or professional editors? I'm afraid she'll get frustrated trying to figure it out how to use it. lol. Anyway, I tried the free ones but they're still lacking transitions and effects. The Lightworks seems weird though. Oh and I find a new one which I think is easy to use for her but the problem this time is the effects. Ugh. lol. Thanks again.

@getochkn

Try AVS Video Editor. It's easy to use with lots of transitions but the effects are less than 50 (I guess) and are not that great. it would be great if there's addons effects/transitions you can download.

No, those are not for advanced users or professional editors. Though some may have some advanced features they are not aimed at the advanced/professional market. I purposely left out Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, etc. which are aimed at advanced/professional users.

Trial versions of most of those programs are available so you can try before you buy.
