I have a Sony DCR-201 Mini DV camcorder and it is not supported by Vista and the computer does not recognize the camcorder when plugged in.
Is it possible to connect the camcorder to the computer and use windows movie maker? How?
If not, how can I take all of these mini dvd's and convert the format so they will read on the movie maker.

Thanks for any suggestions,

ST

Solution
The USB streaming feature is not supported with the Windows Vista operating system.

It should be writing to the discs in MPEG-2 format which Windows Movie Maker in the Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions are compatible with.

If you do not have either version of Windows, you could try downloading Windows Movie Maker 2.6 from the Microsoft Download Center.

That should allow you to capture the video directly from the camcorder to WMM.
