MP3 cd's won't play on Sony CD changer

burned downloaded mp3's onto cd's, I think I configured it right, and
tried a few different modifications. The cd will play on a dvd player
and on the computer,but in the Sony CDP CX455 changer, I can see the
info and albums, and it apears to play (the seconds are counting) but
there is no sound. Any suggestiions? or where can I find more info?

Same behaviour as mine. Don't know the answer, but Sony's manual has very
strict requirements for MP3s which may not be being met in all respects.
(Like using capital letters for the file names ? p3 of the manual.)
When this happens I use a cheap Sony Picot DVD player which so far has
played every type of disc (CD & DVD) I've thrown at it.

strange, though, it recognizes the names, everyting, but doesn't have
any sound. it plays, accesses all the albums. . . . .

It could be that the Sony directs the MP3 output to something other than
the RCA phono connections, like it's optical connection. Try that.

The Sony cd changer is connected to the receiver via optical output.
Maybe it is sending it out through the RCA jacks? why?

You got it!!! I had the cd changer connected by fiberoptic, but on the
Sony database it says:

The DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL) connector does not output sound from an MP3
file.
SOLUTION:
The DIGITAL (OPTICAL OUT) connector will not output sound from an MP3
file. The audio from an MP3 file is not supported for output through
this connection.

Had to disconnect the optical connection and plug in RCA plugs.
Will I lose anything using the analog output instead of the digital
output?

You will no longer be able to play a DTS(encoded)-CD, if that is a concern
(and was supported by your receiver/processor), which would require the
digital connection. Otherwise, you are now using the Sony DAC instead of
your receiver/processor. If you can't hear any difference, it should be of
little concern.
