I love my 7 year old custom-built gaming laptop - Dell XPS M1710 - that was completely rebuilt last year, but the 4gig memory cap is no longer viable for gaming.

I'm looking at either an MSI or an ASUS and would appreciate any thoughts on these two machines.

$2,200 MSI:

thanks, envy, for the reality check.
It may come to a desktop.
I got the XPS when I was traveling for work and have since gotten rather accustomed to sitting on the comfy couch with my feet up.
Now that I'm looking at retirement, I may have to rethink the portability of the laptop.

I used to have a gaming laptop too but could only handle low graphics games, and I spent $1500 on it. It also sat on my desk most of the time. By getting a desktop you can really get major performance boost. Not to mention a bigger screen(s).

i agree with getting a desktop. A laptop is nice and portable, but i can't really imagine playing Battlefield 4 on a tiny little laptop, it would be... weird. A desk with a giant gaming beast setting next to you makes a nice environment
