For the past few months I've been getting a flickering, horizontal effect across my laptop's monitor under certain circumstances. The effect comes along with purple lines striking horizontally across the lower half of the screen. I can clear this by either restarting the laptop or simply waiting, EventView isn't showing any display errors or driver crashes.
I was not able to get the effect to appear when running FurMark extreme burn-in or under any other high stress environments, it does not show up in screenshots and so far has only happened under two specific conditions: I boot the laptop after a longer period of it being powered off, or I alt-tab inside of fullscreen specifically Fallout 4 while running on battery, which has a chance of causing the effect to appear. It so far hasn't shown up when alt-tabbing other games and I haven't seen any rendering artifacts in games or stress-testing programs.
I need to try repeating the effect again to see if I can troubleshoot with an external monitor.
I did also manage to find a video on Youtube that shows an identical situation to mine on the same machine, and many reports of the same thing in the comments, but no solutions.
