screw them...The whole reason I buy a new game is so I can endlessly enjoy the mp aspect of it. If they come out with a more advanced game with better graphics or whatnot, yes I'd pay again. But if they release the same game over and over (aka MOH mp by DICE) then I'll stick to what I already have (BFBC2)...
simple as that

How many of the big games publishers/developers are publicly traded companies? Being publicly traded has a very strong tendency to encourage companies to have a myopic focus on the money that is flowing in/out this quarter. Investors might be the worst junkies of all in our world. Maybe in heaven everyone's stock value always goes up.

It couldn't possibly be because the economy in the US is in recession and it's summer and people are probably trying to save money. Nooooo, we should just all start charging more for less. I'm also thinking it could be lack of quality games, it sure seems that way for the Wii.

Start charging fees for online games and watch your sales drop even further. We used to pay for our own servers to run multiplayer games. They wanted that piece of the pie and to control mods so they could charge us for new map packs. I say they can kiss my white, hairy butt if that is what they think is gonna make them money. I can play rounds of golf for what they intend to charge me. Go ahead guys. Make these games even less affordable and watch the numbers go down even more. Mr. Parrish, get a clue and STFU.

ok *sighs* if they start charging for MP i think ill start palying Spgames only again , sh-- as it is i spend more time on one or two sp games than what i do with online games any way ...its not the mp kiling sales you retards (to the dumb--- that said this),its the all around sh--y economy and the fact that consolegames now cos 60 bucks new ,with many companeis wantign to cahrge 70m PC games are a little better at 50 bucks but not by much, i stil remember when i could walk in a store and find most new games at a cozy 20 or 30 bucks

It's probably a bit unfair to blame multiplayer games for sales decline. I think serious gamers aren't all that rich for the most part and the economic downturn isn't helping either.
Cheaper prices would probably go a long way to promoting sales by reducing piracy and putting out more demo's like the good old days for everyone to try out the games.

so, with MW2 they didn't even have dedicated servers, and not that it bugs me in any way, but if they start charging for something that doesnt cost them anything, i sure wouldn't buy that game no matter what

Once again we have the providers (Publishers) not being respondent to their customers. They think the consumers are their personal banks and can be made to accept any product or service. When their products do not meet the market place's needs sales fall off. Instead of changing the product to meet the market demand, they think they control the market and can force it to accept the products at additional costs. Free market economics demands products desirable by the consumer at affordable prices. The publishers act as if they exist in a protected monopolistic market. They should get their heads out of the sand and join the real world.

Why do I get the feeling that they are blaming us for them not being able to sell more games. You make crappy games then blame the players for low sales. You make games with broken DRM then accuse the players of pirating your games. You come up with full time online activation with inaccessible login servers within the first days of launch and wonder why sales aren't up to expectations after wards. You launch games that are buggy as hell and expect us to just accept it. Stop blaming us players...

I buy and play games on my PC. I am not a big time gamer, just something to do in my spare time on rainy days, which we have a lot of in the northwest. I have been buying fewer of them though the past few years because of mainly 1.The deal where you have to be online to play them, and 2.the games coming out this past several months are not worth the price. I signed up on gog.com so I could download old games and play them again, so much better than the crap they are pushing now.
Activision doesn't need to charge to more, they need to stop and listen to what their customers are asking for, or they will be in trouble. If you don't make what your customers want, you must either find new customers, or change what you are making, or simply go out of business.

[citation][nom]rad666[/nom]"Perhaps then the decline in software sales isn't indicative of the amount of time gamers focus on certain titles, but rather the current crop of new games sitting on the shelf. If they're not appealing, then they're not going home with the customer."BINGO.[/citation]
I agree, man. I like going into a store and seeing the cool new game boxes. But since Gamespot doesn't carry PC titles anymore, all that leaves me is Wal-Mart, and they usually just keep The Sims and the Diablo II Battlechest, and hardly much else.

Is his seriously suggesting that all online games should come with multiplayer fees? If that were to happen it would likely kill the gaming industry at least multiplayer games anyways. Could you imagine paying a monthly fee for each and every multiplayer game you currently play? For me this would add up to be way too costly. If this ever happened I would quit gaming.

multiplayer is much more fun . i remember in college we used to play counter strike , even in 2004 when it was an old game , and it was fun like crazy ! fire in the hole !

games like crysis really opened up the market with innovative graphics , and it is only going to help multiplayer more . i think all single player games should be free with companies charging for multiplayer .

I buy the CoD series because of the extended value of multiplayer. If that goes away- I have to pay per play, or pay subscription- I simply will stop buying from this series.

Oh yeah, and sales are down because the economy is down. Mortgage defaults just hit a new high in the US, people aren't going to buy a new game or a subscription when they are kicked out on the street.
