Hello all,

I did a bit of searching and found the below thread but it does not address all my issues. Before I begin, Here is what I am running:

MXQ box running 4.4.2 (not sure what actual box but it does have a SPDIF plug, 4 USB's,1 HDMI & a SD/MMC slot)
Sony XBR 75X850D
Sony HT-NT5 soundbar

When I hook up the MXQ box via HDMI, I have 2 issues. I lose my BRAVIA Sync Device list, and I can't get it to play audio through my Sony HT-NT5 sound bar. It will play through the TV, but I still have no BRAVIA Sync unless I unplug the HDMI to the MXQ box then the TV sees my HDMI devices in BRAVIA Sync. As far as sound, I did find digital audio settings in the MXQ box. It was set for auto detection. Turned that off and tried all 3 selections, (PCM,SPDIF Passthrough andHDMI passthrough) but still no sound to the bar.
I did find this thread below talking about the sound and looks like I may need to run a cable from the SPDIF out on the MXQ to the TV Components, but it does not address my sync issue. Also, if I were to use the cable and adapter mentioned in that thread below will I have stereo sound? Would't I use this cable https://www.amazon.com/TNP-Bi-Directional-Converter-Auxiliary-Headphone/dp/B019SSZAHW/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_t instead not to mention I would not need the adapter? Also last question, the supplier of the box said this box plays in 1080 but everything seems to be in 720. Again, auto detect was selected under Display Settings on the MXQ and it's showing 720. Turned it off set it for 1080 60HZ and still looks like it is playing in 720 according to the play bar. if the link says HD would it not be in 1080 or are all these links not 1080?

Thanks for any help here. Just set this all up and I am somewhat new to the MXQ as well.

1. Did you try connecting the MXQ box to one of the HDMI Inputs on the soundbar rather than the TV? The soundbar has HDMI out which would go to the TV.
2. The MXQ doesn't have analog audio out which you would need to use the cables you link to. You could use an coax digital audio to analog converter or an HDMI audio extractor to give you a compatible audio output for the soundbar.

I did not. Maybe this will get rid of my Sync issue on the TX as well since anytime I unplug the HDMI from the MXQ it then works. I did not realize I could use those. Makes sense though. I will try it when I get home tonight and report back. THANK YOU for taking the time to reply!

ok.... so no go. Just tried it and the Soundbar does not recognize any input from the mxq box and the same thing happens...the TV switches over to the audio from the set and my sync don't work. Unplug the mxq and my sink works again and I can throw the sound back over to the soundbar

So again,

Anyone know if this is my solution???

On #1, did it same problem. On #2 what is the SPDIF 3.5mm output? Isn't that analog out?
