My acer aspire 5551 recovery discs wont work on my new hard drive

Hello,
I had to get a new hard drive recently for my acer aspire 5551 and I contacted acer and they made me buy the erecovery disc. That's fine except they won't work! I follow the directions and I'm supposed to select the cd or dvd. They don't show up in the F12 menu. I don't know what to do. Someone please help!

The Recovery Discs themselves will not show up in the Boot Menu - they are not supposed to.

In the Boot Menu, you select your CD/DVD drive by it's model name by moving the highlighter with the up/down arrow keys on the keyboard, then press <Enter>.

Your laptop should then boot from the Recovery Disc that's in the CD/DVD drive.
