My brand new dvd won't play

I put the new DVD into my DVD player and it plays the very beginning where it has all the copyright laws and then when it tries to switch to the menu the screen goes black and it won't play anymore. I know it isn't the player because all my other DVDs work fine and the new movie plays fine on my computer. Any ideas?

I would hazard to guess your new DVD is not a legitimate copy. If it is, most stores allow you to return an opened DVD for another copy of the exact same DVD. PC's are usually more tolerant of unusual media formats and disc burn errors.
