My coax port on my flatscreen broke and I'm wondering if I am able to hook cable services back with HDMI cable

I have a 52" element flatscreen t.v. and just broke the coax port on the tv. I have satellite service with Direct TV, therefore having a receiver. Would I be able to fix this problem using an HDMI hook up until I am able to get coax port fixed

Solution
If you used your HD DTV box through the coax input you never got an HD picture. Connect it with the HDMI cable and you will. Unless you are planning on using an over the air antenna I would suggest that the cost of getting the coax input fixed is not going to be worth it. It;s not a cheap as you think.
Why would you use the Coax on your HDTV when you have a satellite/cable box? You are supposed to use HDMI from the box to the TV.

The only reasons, I can think of, for using the coax port on the TV is if you have an antenna, use a CableCard, or are connecting old equipment. The old equipment part is assuming it can tune an analog signal.
