Acting up is an understatement. It's been running very slow lately, I'm not sure what anti virus to try at one point or another I've tried basically everything. My friend told me to stick with the stock anti virus on windows 7 but it hasn't detected anything. I run CCleaner sometimes to clean up after program uninstalls. Hearing malware bytes is good? I just finished using bitdefender and it kinda sucked it didn't find anything it refused to scan my computer when I wanted it to it would just be on timer quick scans. Used Avast for awhile and it seemed to cause everything to slow down including my internet like it was capping my bandwidth or something once I removed it that fixed. I'm running windows 7 AMD Phenom II 965 black ( Quad 3.4ghz not overclocked. ) GTX 970 G1, 16GB DDR3, with 25mb cable connection. I've only been having this problem for about 2-3 days now. About to try malware bytes but any suggestions on other software would be helpful.

Hi there Sepsu,

You can go to Resource Monitor and see whether you see something abnormal over there like high usage of HDD, RAM, etc. and what is causing this.
Also, you can enter safe mode and see whether the issue persists. In case it does, then I guess it could be some hardware issue. In case it doesn't, it could be a software one.

Some other things you can try:
- Measure your system's temps.
- Test your HDD
- Try running your system with only one RAM stick at a time. In case the issue persists, try the other stick. You can try them on different potrs as well.

Cheers,

I agree with D_Know_WD. Check your PC memory status, as short of memory can influence the overall performance of your PC. Perform some free system optimization checklist to fix your system slowness issue. Please have a look at http://computercheckup.aol.com/articles/clean-my-pc/. Malwarebyte is working good for me but you can also try some lightweight cloud based antivirus software like Immunet - www.immunet.com/ or Panda - www.cloudantivirus.com in your PC to boost up your PC Speed and to protect your PC from viruses
