my Dell Latitude Z is a 4 years old and now works only when wired to electricity. as soon as I plug it out, it shut off immediately on battery even though the computer says (in the boot menu) battery condition is moderate

It is possible your battery is not seated correctly resulting in the connection not working, making the battery give no power.

Basically check that the battery is properly pushed in and is clipping In.

Then check your power settings for anything relating to on battery mode. Check all settings on there.

Thanks for the feedback, but it the battery wouldn't seated correctly I believe that the bios couldn't tell me the condition of the battery, right? so I don't think it's about not seating correctly...
