my Dell Vostro laptop [Windows 7] does not boot past BIOS screen

Hi, my Dell Vostro laptop does not boot past BIOS screen. most of times it restarts from BIOS screen multiple times. Even if it reaches to the Windows login page, the system hangs (can not move cursor) for long time. Then I have to restart the laptop by pressing power button for long. Please suggest some solution.

Hi,

Try and reset the BIOS setting first by removing the CMOS battery of then just it back in after couple of seconds. If that doesn't do the trick run a test with the HDD inside BIOS called SMART Self Test. Select the HDD listed in BIOS and press Enter then look for SMART Test.
