my headphone mic doesnt work. why is this?

My headset microphone doesn't seem to be working? is there any way i could fix this quickly? while on Skype, I can hear the other person perfectly but they cant hear me at all, is this because of the headphone mic? please help!

Has it ever worked before? If so, what changed right before it stopped?

Is it a USB headset or plug into the sound card with two separate cables?

Did you run the configuration wizard inside skype?

Those cords to the mic, especially on cheaper headsets, can get loose. To fix it, simply re-wire the connections, or replace the headset. Lots of pretty good Logitech sets are on ebay for about $10-15. Those same sets are about $25+ in stores, they may just be older models of the same thing.

Assuming you checked to make sure you did not just mute the mic output in Windows or Skype.
