My headphones jack dipped in salt water from a foot bath and caused them to static.

I was terrified I broke them, from the headphones making static sounds from the salty water. I actually think they sound better then before the jack went in the water. Why would it sound bettter and not worse. The headphones is Audio-Technica AIR Dynamic Headphones ATH-AD900X. The jack is only in the water for a few seconds.

Salt water is a conductor, you likely ended up cleaning the connection since it did not damage the headphones.
