my laptop wont let me t copy paste or cut anything .it gets stuck in calculating .or after just moving or copying 5 mb it stucks and after a while the whole windows hangs.I have tried reinstalling windows.even installing windows 8 but the problem is still there
it wont let me copy a file either in desktop or an external hard drive
I have tried check disk and defragmenting.I don't know what to do now.

Solution
New HDD:
Step 1, Replace old HDD with New HDD
step 2, Install your OS, updates, drivers and install your programs. when done and everything AOK.
Step 3 Connect your old HDD using a 2 1/2 inch usb enclosure and copy all your files from the old HDD to the New HDD.

or

Note any files that you try to copy that contain Bad sectors will be corrupted. They may not even copy over.
You can try to run chkdsk /f /r X: (X= Drive letter for the old HDD) from a dos (Cmd) prompt or from Windows.

I just checked it with the program "crystaldiskinfo"... hdtach doesn't work on win 8
the health statue is "Caution". It says that there are a lot of bad sectors in my hdd.
could this be the cause?
thanks in advance

Ok.I'm ok with bying a new hdd but i have some files (songs) that are very important for me.I need them and if i get rid of this hdd i will lose them all.Is there anyway to copy these files to my external hard drive?

Solution
try running windows checkdisk and get it to do a repair while its checking, it will attempt to save as much as possible while doing so then you should hopefully be able to copy the saved files.
