My Microphone Troubles

I just bought a headset that terminates to two 3.5 TRS jacks one for audio the other for the mic, now my laptop has a combo jack and I bought some cheap adapter that terminates to a trrs. When I try it out the mic does'nt work but the audio does.
I've updated all the proper drivers and now I don't now wtf I'm supposed to do.
Please help me in anyway you can.

Hello there.

Most cheap adapters will not work. You need the original adapter for your headset model.

It uses a USB port instead. Bulky, yes, but will work for sure.
