My mouse acts like it's drunk, software hangs and freezes as do web pages. Any ideas?

It started after some updates from Microsoft. I uninstalled the updates then reinstalled them one at a time. Nothing changed. After several weeks of uninstalling drivers updates and and anything else I could think of then reinstalling same I finally told it to recover the system back to factory specs. Still the same. The mouse acts like it's drunk, software and web pages hang and freeze and I get a message asking me if I want to change my color scheme. Could something be going bad in my laptop?

Today, after running some more tests that showed nothing wrong, I tried to reboot and the laptop once again froze on boot up. So I held down the power button and shut it off completely. While it was off I picked it up, turned it upside down and shook it - hard. Turned it back on and it now runs perfectly. I've since run diagnostics on it, again, and the tests still show there is nothing wrong with either the system or any of it's inside parts. I really am at a loss and I'm also afraid it may start acting up again. But for now it's working. Maybe I should have shook the shit out it sooner. I'm still open to any suggestions as to why it was malfunctioning in the first place or even why turning it upside down and shaking it would have fixed it.
