My Steelseries headset won't work on my PC as a microphone and headset

I have a problem in which, I can only use my Steel series headset as a playback device and not a recording device. The headset is never recognised within recording devices. How would i go about fixing this.

I have Realtek Audio and AMD HD audio, I've deleted and reinstalled each about 5 times and no solution came, I have them both with the newest updates. My headset only has one 3.5mm jack that I plug into the green slot. Will I need an adapter to have both?

Please help me find a solution to this,
