My VPN failed?

I use IPVanish but I received a notice from my ISP Verizon. I am asking for help as I am not sure how this happened and I would like to prevent it from happening again. I use bit torrent for my material. Please help. Thanks

And what did your notice instruct you to do?

Just because you use a VPN does not mean your ISP doesn't know you are using it. They may not be able to access specific content when you are using a VPN service, but they tell that you are indeed using it. This can then be used to trace dubious content transactions.
