My westinghouse tv works in tv input but not in hdmi input

Have you tried different HDMI sources? If you have more than one HDMI input, make sure you try them all. Some TVs, especially oder ones, have issues with newer HDMI devices. My older 720p Sharp Aquos has issues with sound for example, it's low in HDMI, but fine in analog.

And the Sharp is a much higher quality TV than a westinghouse.

If you tried a few things already, you can check if there is a firmware upgrade for your TV model from the vendor, if not, get it replaced or just use the other inputs. If you have DVI or composite, that should give you a pretty good image.
