Hello tom's Hardware. I have a question I may have already answered myself but after collecting all my data and results i'm willing to share them and ask if i'm doing something wrong or if this is as good as it gets. The laptop i purchased is the MSI GT70 Dominator pro 890 link listed below.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IMTQ7MQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The video driver currently installed is 337.50 by nvidia.

I have used nvidia inspector and increased my gpu clock by +50 achieving 1050/2500. My ultra frame rates in BF4 are from 29-60 with 1920x1080 resolution. My cooling is set to maximum and my power options are all set to high performance.

I looked into custom Vbios as I've done this on a sony laptop and achieved 980/1050 clock speed on a 640m and was able to play BF3 on ultra around 30 fps.

My question for the community. Is this the true power/potential of the 880m? Am i being throttled by something?

My score for unigine valley benchmark was 1454.

Thanks in advanced!

Solution
I don't know that much about Dayz and Arma. You should go on their forums and see what others are getting with similar specs.

The 880M should run about about as good as a GTX660Ti - see: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

and the 4800 cpu should be OK too - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

But there's averages and mins and max's. Some games eg BF4 seem to have a lot of variation. But from the example with bf4, I would expect that your laptop would run the same as others with the same specs.

I agree this seems normal after reading that article but what about Dayz and Arma 3. I sometimes dip all the way down to 13fps in towns which when using my 670 desktop card i never get that low?

Thanks again for the article post btw.
