I canot seem to get the sound to come out of my speakers when playing games or watching neflix on my Xbox 1

My equipment and cable set up at the moment

Genius GX-Gaming 5.1 Surround
Sound Speakers

Creative Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 External Sound Card

XBOX 1

LG 32 Inch TV

Currently I've got my Xbox connected to the TV by HDMI cable,
a Toslink Optical cable running from the Xbox to the Omni Sound Card plugged into an *Optical out* port (where I'm thinking the problem lies),
The Omni cables connected correctly to the 5.1 speakers.

That setup does not produce sound on my 5.1 speakers when using the Xbox.

The other setup I've tried is connecting the *Optical out* Optical cable into a Optical to digital coaxial converter with a digital coaxial cable and that's plugged into the digital coaxial out port on the lg TV.

That setup does not produce sound on my 5.1 speakers when using the xbox.

So I'm thinking 1 of 3 problems
1) I need to buy a new sound card with an optical in port
2 I need to install the sound cards drivers and firmware on the Xbox 1
3)I try to plug all the cables in differently.

Any ideas?
Please help!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by you ran your Xbox audio into your sound card? Your best bet here is to run your PC 5.1 and have an AUX from the headphone out on your TV running into your speakers, and maybe they will have emulated 5.1? Most likely it will just be 2.1. Otherwise you'll have to buy a 3 to 1 3.5mm 5.1 adapter and run your TVs headphone out into the 5.1 portion of your speakers and have your PC as 2.1 thru the AUX on your speakers. And also, do you mean that your Xbox isn't outputting any audio whatsoever thru the TV speakers even while using the TOSLINK cable?
