Need Help With Lenovo Y40!

Ok. So. I want to play a game on a monitor, so i hook up a hdmi cable from my laptop. But when i use hdmi it only uses my chipset graphics and not my dedicated graphics. Ive tried everything possible. I called customer support, but they wont even TELL YOU what to do unless you have a pro warranty witch is 100+ so that's out of the question. Can someone help me? Uses AMD Radeon R9 M275x with switchable graphics.

Are you leaving the lid open?
If you close the lid it switches to low power & integrated gpu.

I leave the lid open when I use it. I play TF2, CS:GO, GMOD etc. on my laptop but would instead like to have my dedicated graphics output to the monitor and use the PC display as an extended desktop. (I do this now but I use the moniter as the extended desktop because when I play the games on the laptop they use the AMD Radeon instead of intel.
