I'm looking to get a new laptop here within the next month or so. I know at the end of this month the new core i7 mobile processors will be released. I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks about the price, or if they've heard anything.

I do alot of motion graphics work in After Effects and Cinema 4d, so i really like the extra cores, and especially the hyper threading, over the existing models. I want to spend about $1200. In your humble opinions, if i were to customize a Vaio or Dell concentrating on the low end 720QM with other less important features lacking, do you think a laptop can be bought for around this price??

Noooooo! Don't waste your time on any Intel GPU crap! Please upgrade that POS Intel to a Geforce or ATI...You will thank me later. Sure, it's for games, but it's power will better compliment that awesome i7 that overclocks to 2.8 Ghz. Don't listen to anyone who settles for the underachieving Intel gpu. It's like buying a Porsche with a Honda Civic suspension...ugh! Plus, the resale with a much more powerful gaming card is so much more. Again, stay away from any Intel video card! Oh, and upgrade to a 500 GB 7200 RPM drive that will cost maybe $50 - you'll need it later!

The analogy really isn't applicable. If the applications he uses aren't GPU accelerated in any way, he won't notice a difference between the Intel GPU and a dedicated one - OP, that's something you need to look up and consider.
I do agree with the 7200RPM disk, though. Video editing can really hammer your HDD.
