My laptop is the ASUS P50IJ and I recently bought the T9600 and plan to replace the T4300 that came with my laptop.

Whenever I install the T9600, my laptop starts for 3 seconds, with no display, before shutting down. It only happens with the T9600 because when I reinstall the T4300, everything works.

I tried removing my CMOS battery and booting without it with the T9600 but it didn't work. I tried updating my BIOS to a recent version but it still didn't work.

Heres some specs:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit OEM
CPU: Intel Duo Core T4300 (2.1 ghz)
GPU: Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family
HDD: 2.5 Hitachi 320GB SATA 3Gb/s

Any idea why it won't work?

I assumed that it would be compatible because they're both PGA-478. And I looked at a website and it showed me a list of CPUs I could upgrade to from the T4300, and the T9600 was one of them.

Sorry my link is not working...

Google search says this.

The T9600 is BGA479, PGA478
The T4300 is PGA478

So I would think that this should work. Unless the version of the T9600 is The BGA479 only for some crazy reason... Have you tried contacting ASUS?

How do I tell if it is BGA-479?
And I didn't contact ASUS yet just because I didn't think support would be in this field
