New Dell Inspiron 3531 will not charge battery

I have 3 Dell Inspiron 3531's that out of the box will not charge the batteries. I have tried everything I have found in the forums, and nothing so far has worked. The batteries all read 0% and the laptop says it is charging the batteries, but it stays at 0% and if you unplug the power adapter the laptop immediately cuts off.

It appears the batteries discharged to the point that the Inspiron 3531 will not activate the charging circuit. Fortunately we had a customers Dell laptop using the same battery in for a cleanup. Without turning the laptop off I put the customers fully charged battery in the laptop to activate the charging circuit, and without turning the laptop off, put the new fully discharged battery in the new laptop. The laptop began charging the battery at this point to a full charge. So if your battery is too far drained and you can find an identical battery with some charge left in it, you may be able to revive the dead battery.
