New gaming laptop reaching 90C and more

Hey all, I'm having trouble with a new laptop I bought and am in need of some help.
I got the Asus FX502VM for school about a week ago , specifically picking out a laptop with the specs needed to play more demanding games. What worries me is how high the laptop gets when actually playing these games. After playing 1 game of Fortnite on high(even though the recommended setting is ultra), the cpu would go up to 90 and even 100 degrees celsius along with the graphics card and gpu. From what I read up, cpu's are not supposed to go over 60 degrees celsius yet my laptop idle's at around 56 and up to 67 degrees. I really have no idea what the problem is and I do not want to damage my laptop by constantly overheating it like this. At this point I'm starting to doubt if my laptop is fit for gaming.

I am desperate need of advice of how to resolve this issue, any help would be appreciated

P.S.: I have been recommended by friends to replace the thermal paste but I am afraid that would void the warranty I have on it. I have also been recommended to get a Laptop cooler but am unsure of their effectiveness. Going to have to need more info on this topic.

Where do you live in and whats the ambient temperature?

Laptop cpu and gpu do reach higher temps when compared to desktops, but shouldnt be 90/100C high.

My ambient temperature is ~30C... and my laptop's cpu can reach 90C and gpu 94C. I'm in the same situation as you and from what I read, my model's temps should be around only 80C, though the reviewer's ambient temp is probably under 20C

If cpu does indeed reach 100C, you could go to Asus's service centre and report overheating problems. If you repaste the cpu, and they know you tampered with your cpu, your warranty is void

Bought this laptop and found out the temp was blazing hot while playing heavy games like the rise of tomb rider. touched 94C.
Bought AS5 and repasted the original factory thermal paste. It performs the same while idle at 51C but it managed to suppress the load temp from 94C to 86C.
Did undervolt the 7700HQ by 125mV using Intel Xtreme Tuning Utilities & I turned off the Intel boost by setting 99% on Processor Power Management. That pushed the load temp down to 82C.
Then I undervolt the GPU using MSI Afterburner and managed to push the load temp to 79C.
Lastly, I bought CPU cooling pad (Deepcool Multi Core X6) and that squeezed another 2C to 77C
Now I'm still waiting for 2 unit of vacuum coolers (Opolar LC06) to attach to the exhaust, since drilling holes directly below the fans is not recommended. Drilling intake holes below the fan might cool down the CPU and the GPU drastically, but some said it would mess up the airflow for the rest of the laptop (like ssd, hdd, and other stuff).
As you can see, even if you don't want to repaste the laptop, you still have plenty of ways to cool your laptop down.

Yeah.. it's quite common for laptops nowadays to get hot.

Well... buying a gaming laptop was honestly a terrible idea.
Those temps are completely normal for gaming laptops so get used to it.
It'll probably die after few years due to heat.
